Vegas Golden Knights prospect tears it up at AHL All-Star Game
While Vegas Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty was busy at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis, another player in the organization was also tearing it up.
Vegas Golden Knights prospect Lucas Elvenes, who has been red hot for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL this year, was a dominant presence at the AHL All-Star Classic in California.
Elvenes earned his status as an AHL All-Star after leading the Wolves in points with 35 (eight goals, 27 assists) in 48 games through the first-half of the 2019-20 regular season.
The 127th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Golden Knights, Elvenes is in his rookie year in North America and the wing is handling the transition with ease.

And the prospect impressed in California over the weekend as he rubbed shoulders with the elite of the elite in the AHL.
What is interesting is that the AHL All-Star Classic takes on a completely different format than the NHL All-Star Game, with the Skills Competition in the AHL nothing like the one we saw in St. Louis over the weekend.
For instance, Elvenes took part in the Puck Control Relay, the Pass and Score event and the Breakaway Relay.
These events actually looked a lot of fun and you wonder if the NHL might try one or two of these events in the NHL All-Star Game later down the line.
Anyway, back to Elvenes who helped the Western Conference win the AHL All-Star Skills Competition before helping the Central Division to the AHL Challenge Final.
Elvenes recorded two goals and two assists for a total of four points, including a filthy breakaway move against the Atlantic Division.
It was an impressive couple of days for Elvenes who continues to tear it up in his rookie year, and it could be a big off-season for the prospect who will look to further impress the Vegas Golden Knights in hopes of earning an opportunity to make the leap to the NHL.
Also, before we move on, did you see that Martin Frk rocket during the CCM Hardest Shot in the AHL All-Star Game over the weekend?
After seeing Shea Weber make a triumphant return to the Hardest Shot competition in the NHL 2020 All-Star Game on Friday, Frk said hold my beer by unleashing a bomb of a shot that was clocked at 109.2 miles per hour, shattering the previous AHL record of 105.5 mph set by former Golden Knights defenseman Colin Miller in 2015.
In other AHL related news, numerous reports are suggesting that the Vegas Golden Knights are in discussions to bring an AHL team to Las Vegas.
Per Jesse Granger of The Athletic, the Knights plan to call their AHL franchise the Henderson Silver Knights, who will play the next two seasons at The Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
That means that the Golden Knights would sever ties with the Chicago Wolves, and it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds.
