By now the news that Gerard Gallant was relieved of his Head Coach duties by the Vegas Golden Knights has sunk in, but that doesn’t mean the questions stop.
Even hours removed, it was a baffling decision by the Vegas Golden Knights who also announced the appointment of Peter DeBoer as their new bench boss at the same time.
Granted, this team has performed below expectations and their loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday was their fourth straight.
However, the Knights ranked high in a number of underlying stats and they certainly have got the tools required to turn this around.

But, whether they do or not, Gallant won’t be around and we will have to wait a while to see if this gamble pays off or not.
And a gamble it is. While DeBoer is a winner and has the resume to back it up, Gallant helped make this team a powerhouse in the NHL both on and off the ice and you would think that his success would have bought him more time.
We’ve mentioned this a lot today, though, and sports is a cutthroat business and the Vegas Golden Knights have very much become a victim of their own success.
Time waits for no man and the front office obviously felt that they needed to make a change, and getting rid of the Head Coach was the change they felt was necessary.
Whichever way you cut it, however, this is a strange move and we’ve put together three major reasons why firing Gerard Gallant doesn’t make a lot of sense…
