3. Max Pacioretty

For established veterans such as Max Pacioretty, preseason is all about getting reps in, blowing off the summer cobwebs and getting back into the swing of things in order to be primed and ready for the regular season.

And it has been a case of so far so good for Pacioretty who appears locked in already having dominated the two preseason games he’s played in so far. That dominance continued against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Pacioretty was in peak form against the Sharks and finished the game with one goal and two assists for three points, in addition to recording a plus/minus rating of +1 in 13:18 minutes of total ice time.

He grabbed helpers on Valentin Zykov’s opener and Alex Tuch’s power play goal, while his goal was a joy to behold too after one-timing a lethal snipe beyond Martin Jones from Cody Glass’ stellar dish.

Pacioretty now has four goals and three assists for seven points in two preseason games and, although exhibition games don’t count for anything, it is encouraging for everyone concerned with the Vegas Golden Knights that Max Pacioretty is already firing on all cylinders.

With Vegas Head Coach Gerard Gallant planning to use the final two games of the exhibition as dress rehearsals for the regular season, Pacioretty will have one or two more opportunities to further get his eye in before proper hockey gets underway.
