It was just meant to be wasn’t it? The Vegas Golden Knights will have an early shot at redemption when they host the San Jose Sharks in their 2019-20 home opener.

The NHL Schedule Makers have truly outdone themselves after pitting the Vegas Golden Knights against their postseason foes at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday October, 2, 2019 in the curtain raiser to the new season.

And, if that wasn’t enough, the Knights will then head to the SAP Center for San Jose’s home opener on Oct, 4.

Both games will be highly anticipated following the controversial playoff series between the two teams this year, which ended in a historic and truly bonkers Game 7.

Vegas were leading 3-0 in the middle of the third period and were seemingly on their way to the next round, but the pendulum was firmly swung in the Sharks’ favor after Cody Eakin was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct after cross-checking Joe Pavelski.

San Jose went on to score four power play goals in a frantic stretch of play and the rest as they say was history with the Sharks going on to advance to the next round.

That postseason loss stung a lot for everybody connected with the Golden Knights and there will no doubt be plenty of spice still lingering over from that playoff series once puck drops on Oct, 2.

It should be a thrilling start to the 2019-20 regular season given that both the Knights and the Sharks are still in the middle of their Stanley Cup windows.

The Sharks recently inked Erik Karlsson to a monster eight-year, $92 million deal in order to bolster their chances of winning the Stanley Cup.

Vegas, meanwhile, will return next year with the majority of their roster intact with potentially the addition of a young stud in Cody Glass, who looks ready to make the leap to the NHL sooner rather than later.

More from Vegas Hockey Knight

There is plenty of bad blood between these two teams and we already can’t wait for the fireworks to start in October.

The Golden Knights have done battle with the Sharks on 21 occasions over the last two years, going 5-1-2 in regular season tilts and splitting a pair of playoff series.

The NHL will release each team’s full 2019-20 schedule live on NHL Network on Tuesday, June 25, at 12 pm ET / 9am PT during NHL Tonight: 2019-20 Schedule Release which will be hosted by Jamison Coyle and analysts E.J. Hradek and Mike Johnson.
