A variety of Canadian media outlets, including the Winnipeg Free Press are reporting that Kelly McCrimmon of the Brandon Wheat Kings is coming on board to the Las Vegas NHL Hockey Franchise as George McPhee’s Assistant General Manager. The story has been repeated by Yahoo Sports and the Las Vegas Review Journal.

The rumors evidently started last Wednesday, when Guy Flaming of the

radio show out of Edmonton tweeted, “According to a source, Brandon Wheat Kings owner/GM Kelly McCrimmon is likely to be named Assistant GM for #VegasIsHockey.” The club has declined to make any statements.
McCrimmon is a three-time WHL executive of the year (1994-95, 2009-10 and 2014-15) and was also named top executive by the Canadian Hockey League in 2009-10. He now owns the Brandon WHL franchise and also worked with Team Canada for the World Junior Championships this last year.
The rumors seem to expect an official announcement will be made midweek.
