What's there to do in Vancouver?
One place that I fell in love with while in British Columbia was Whistler. I checked out the Olympic Village and was in awe.
Have you ever looked at a similar product and seen how it's much closer to the original than the original product actually is? That's Whistler for you. The village has a European feel like you're in Germany or Switzerland. The thing is that it's closer to classical Europe than either country is. It was like the snow village in Final Fantasy 7, only in North America (and without the snow since it was in April).
In Whistler, you'll find numerous eateries to watch the locals ski and snowboard. I ate at Longhorn Saloon, which was an amazing take on the "Wild West" in Western Canada. The locals are friendly and warm (as expected with Canadians), where even my waitress shook my hand when eating at Longhorn Saloon!
Visitors have also taken a detour in Stanley Park to look at the waterfront. There's even a ferry you can take to Vancouver Island if you're extra-curious. However, your trip should involve taking a two-hour drive to see where the 2010 Winter Olympics took place (especially if you love skiing and snowboarding). Just make sure you grab a parking spot since those get picked up quickly.
