Wednesday "Knight" wisdom about... Christmas shopping

Christmas shopping can be the toughest ordeal for Vegas Golden Knights fans. What can you get your family?

Last-minute shopping is a common trend among regular people, especially Vegas Golden Knights fans. You're caught up in work, taking care of the children, and keeping your house upright. It's not easy getting these things done while you're shopping for your entire family.

However, there are plenty of good ideas for Golden Knights fans to consider. For example, an Alex Pietrangelo bobblehead sounds like a good idea. It's a great collectible for the mancave and can fetch you plenty of money if kept in tip-top condition.

There's also a jersey that makes for an excellent Christmas gift. Why not pick up a jersey with Mark Stone's name or Noah Hanifin's? You can't go wrong with these ideas when heading to T-Mobile Arena for a hockey game. In fact, make it a family idea where everyone gets jerseys. Turn it into an Oprah meme and give everyone Golden Knights-themed cars!

Take it from Pietrangelo, who looks excited in that picture. He must be talking about the latest gift idea(s) he's getting his family for the holidays. However, one particular gift I received a few years back reminded me of my Golden Knights fandom. This specific item reminded me that you can do anything regardless of the circumstances put in front of you. What was the best gift I received?

My favorite gift (yes, it's related to the Vegas Golden Knights)

Now, I'm not certain if I received this present for my birthday or for Christmas. My memory is a little fuzzy from 2017. However, it's the season of gifts and giving, so it fits.

Anyway, one of my favorite gifts during my lifetime was a Marc-Andre Fleury jersey during the Vegas Golden Knights's first season. It was the gray jersey from when they wore these as an alternate. Still, it was a terrific gift that ushered in a new era for hockey and the NHL.

Who would've thought that hockey would work in the desert? Everyone forgot that the Arizona Coyotes existed aside from their cool Kachina logo. What made fans think this would be no different in Las Vegas? Fans from the opposing team would pour in and invade T-Mobile Arena, anyway.

Well, how did that prediction turn out? It ended up with the Golden Knights at the top of attendance by capacity annually. Two Stanley Cup Final appearances and a championship joined the masses filling T-Mobile Arena nightly. The cherry on top? Locals finally had a professional team they could finally call their own.

The Vegas Golden Knights are truly "#VegasBorn"

In the age where the Raiders and Athletics are coming from California, it made that gift much more authentic. It brought meaning to the term, "#VegasBorn," which became a rallying cry for a city reeling from tragedy alongside "#VegasStrong."

That's why that Marc-Andre Fleury jersey meant so much to me. It meant you were a part of something special.

A higher calling, if you will.

For countless Las Vegas citizens, it feels like that every night at T-Mobile Arena. From Lee Orchard firing up the crowd to Noah Hanifin, Alex Pietrangelo, and the gang coming out of the locker room and onto the ice. To me, Golde Knights hockey means a group of "Misfits" discounted by other fanbases, only to prove them wrong.

That's why you should get your family and/or friends the gift of Vegas Golden Knights memorabilia this Christmas. Whenever a team goes beyond playing their sport and becoming a part of your regular life, that means something. That's what the Golden Knights have done in Las Vegas, becoming the only true team with the term, "#VegasBorn."
