Wednesday Knight Wisdom... about baseball and softball

The Golden Knights and baseball? Well, there is an event coming up on July 12 that's always a blast. There's also the ballpark...

As I was watching the Sacramento Athletics of Las Vegas by way of Oakland lose yet another game, I looked at the tickets for Battle 4 Vegas (Yes, it's softball. I get that). I realized I never went to the event in my lifetime. My, how could I miss such a spectacular softball event between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Las Vegas Raiders... in a baseball park?

After all, it was sponsored by the Athletics, formerly of Oakland and moving to Las Vegas. You know John Fisher had a massive stiffy getting that sponsorship done. I wonder if the new stadium will be built on time.

But it got me thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool to go to the event and cover it?" After all, curiosity is the spice of life, especially when you're trying new things. Thus, I spent $52 on some nifty outfield seats.

It's a part of an ever-expanding love for the sport of hockey. It's something that's stuck with me since I was a wee lad, ranging from the vaunted Colorado Avalanche teams to Brett Hull's infamous Stanley Cup goal.

Don't forget about baseball (and softball)!

But there was also a love for baseball. I used to go to cities like Cleveland to check out ballgames with my Dad, seeing the various sights and sounds of America. So why not combine the two loves together to make something better?

This year? It's just another thing to be hyped up about. Still, that's great considering that I love exploring new places and trying different things. The past trip to Vancouver is a shining example of this.

The moral of the story? Try something new. Maybe volunteer at the local shelter. Maybe find a bar to watch Golden Knights games. Heck, even take in a gym membership and find some workout buddies.

Whatever the case, give something new a try. You never know what (and who) you'll find!
