Hi, folks! I've often been interested in following the Golden Knights' prospect system, including tracking our various up-and-comers' performances throughout their various leagues and levels. I initially intended to start this as a series on Reddit, where posted the first iteration of this. However, since coming onboard with Vegas Hockey Now, I've re-developed it for here! I'm tentatively planning to do this every other week. Let's delve right into a few standouts stories over the last month, both good and bad.
Carl Lindbom has locked in during his return to the AHL
First, our favorite goalie of the future. Since returning to the AHL at the start of the month, Carl Lindbom has rounded back into his lights-out AHL form. In five games played for Henderson, Lindbom has allowed only 11 goals on 125 shots faced, good for a .912 save percentage and 2.20 goals against average. Most notably, he posted his second shutout of the season, stopping 32 shots to blank the San Diego Gulls in Henderson's annual teddy bear toss game.

Talk about a fun night for those in attendance. Lindbom's posted a 3-2-0 record in those five games, but he's only had one truly bad game, allowing four goals on 22 shots to Bakersfield on December 6; however, it was on the second end of a back-to-back, where he played both games.
If his prior AHL season is anything to go off of, it'll be more of the same for the young goaltender, who posted good numbers behind a bad defense last year.
Lucas Van Vilet might be a late-round steal
In June 2024, the Golden Knights spent a 7th-round pick on Lucas Van Vilet, a young right wing and USHL veteran. More than likely, given his draft standing, they didn't expect him to turn into much, but oh boy, they might've been wrong.
Since committing to the freshly-promoted-from-D3 St. Thomas Tommies last March, Van Vilet has been a weapon for the small-but-mighty NCAA program. While the Tommies sit tied for 5th in a crowded top of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings, Van Vilet has been a scoring machine, with 7 goals and 16 points in just 18 games. This leaves him tied for 11th in the CCHA in points, again, as a 19-year-old rookie. Not bad! To top that off, he's now racked up back to back CCHA Rookie of the Week awards for his play throughout late November. Below are some of his highlights from the second week, including an incredible game-tying goal against Michigan Tech with just 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation:
Ending on a weird note: The strange journey of Pavel Moysevich
As we've alluded to before, the Golden Knights had high hopes for the Belarusian netminder when they picked him in the third round of 2024. However, it's been a complicated run for Moysevich; to put it bluntly, he's barely played. As Jack Manning has pointed out, that's not ideal for his development, and speaks to potential behind-the-scenes issues; it wouldn't be the first time a KHL team benched a player for wanting to go overseas.
That said, he's posted solid numbers in his limited time this year, with a .908 save percentage and 2.86 goals against average with SKA St. Petersburg's farm team. After a bad first two games, he allowed just 4 goals on 58 shots over his next two. Let's hope we see him over here at somepoint, so that he gets a fair shot with an organization that clearly valued him as a prospect.
See you all next week!
