Trent Swick signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. The prospect was a sixth-round pick (180th overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft and hails from St. Catherines, Ontario. He stands at a menacing 6'6" and weighs 207 lbs.

It's easy to see why Swick got a deal with the Golden Knights. The forward has 26 goals and 31 assists in 55 games with the Kitchener Rangers this season. He's projected to hit 30 goals and 36 assists for the season. marking an OHL career-high. He has 64 goals and 79 assists in five seasons (198 games) in the OHL, making him one of the league's defining stars.

He also made his mark on the SCTA amateur leagues, particularly in 2019-20. Here, he scored 26 goals and 29 assists in 32 games for the Southern Tier Admirals U16 AAA club. One can point at this season and say it was instrumental to the left winger's growth.

So let's look at what makes the forward special. How will he fit in with the Golden Knights when he gets the call? What attributes make him a formidable piece to the lineup? Get ready to meet your newest prospect working up the ranks, Las Vegas. He's set to impact the lineup in a "big" way (get it? He's 6'6").

What makes Trent Swick special

As mentioned, he's a bigger player. It's hard not to miss a 6'6" player with a noticeable presence in front of the net. He's also an excellent playmaker, using that size to create mismatches. The Ontario native has incredible handles with the puck and can set up his teammates for solid scoring opportunities. This highlight reel shows what the newest star can do on the ice.

Want a breakaway threat? Trent Swick is your man.

Want someone who can maneuver around defensemen without hesitation? Look no further. That's what you're getting with the larger-than-life winger. He makes each play look effortless, running the offense with minimal effort.

Think of him as an offensive version of Nicolas Hague. The defenseman is known for being an excellent defender who uses his body on every play. But Swick uses his body to deter oncoming defenders. If he develops into a two-way forward, watch out.

When will Vegas Golden Knights fans see Trent Swick?

Given his continued growth and success, fans could see Swick at some point in the third season (if everything goes right). He hasn't hit the AHL or ECHL yet, meaning he still needs to adjust his game and play with aspiring players of his caliber. You can't just make the NHL right out of the gate, you know (that is unless you're a generational talent)?

Still, it's fun watching him develop into the ideal player. The Golden Knights pride themselves on being bigger than their opponents, using their bodies in every facet. Not only that, but they're also big on maneuvering around their opponents. That's where the 20-year-old comes in.

He can do all these things and more, making him a key scorer in the middle of the lineup. At least, that's where he could land. First, there's some work to be done. Get through the minor leagues first and take over the world. That's what should be on the Canadian's agenda as he enters his entry-level deal.
