Vegas Golden Knights fans have seen the tweet. You know, the one about Las Vegas *allegedly* being a bigger market than Seattle (despite the market saying otherwise) and a worse expansion story. Yeah, there was that overtime loss earlier. Still, roll the clip.
According to the Kraken Pod, they do! 𤣠https://t.co/1s6Iv40bcE pic.twitter.com/ME9KKm3FYH

Yep, that's the one. From the dudes that look like they're about to use some pick-up lines, they forgot that Seattle has the 14th-biggest market in the United States. Las Vegas? Well, they rank a paltry 42nd. That's not exactly lighting the world on fire, especially when you rank lower than Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Greenville, South Carolina.
That's not even mentioning how the Golden Knights made the Stanley Cup Final in their first season AND won the Stanley Cup in their sixth season. Imagine telling that to a podcaster in Louisiana, a year after Vegas missed the Stanley Cup playoffs the season prior.
Well, the times seem to be changing a little bit. The Kraken have won four of its last five games entering Saturday, while the Golden Knights have lost five of their last six games. Suddenly, podcasters are feeling awfully confident in themselves, thinking that Vegas's downfall is upon us. Now imagine telling that to someone at the Pleasanton Marriott.
Anyways, the odds look a bit unfavorable for the Golden Knights. However, Vegas can pull this off and get a win at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday. After all, they're 12-2-2 all-time against the Kraken. Here's how the Golden Knights can repeat history and become the superior expansion story on Saturday.
The Vegas Golden Knights must milk the high-danger chances against the Seattle Kraken
Entering Saturday's matchup against the Seattle Kraken, the Golden Knights had the third-most high danger shots on goal with 471. In turn, they had the second-most high danger goals with 101, according to NHL Edge.
Therefore, the objective is simple. Get as many high danger chances as you can get. The Kraken are great at squeezing space from their opponents. It's why netminders like Philipp Grubauer (2.34 GAA and a save percentage of .919) have thrived this season.
When you get more offensive zone than your opponent, that bodes well for your chances of winning. If Vegas can do this early and often, they'll be on their way to turning their fortunes around. That's especially true since the Golden Knights have struggled to get off to a fast start in the past week.
Mind you, this is a Kraken team that's won four of its last five games entering Saturday. Each win has seen Seattle score more than three goals, making them a tough out.
That's where the zone dominance comes into play. The Golden Knights can't let turnovers dictate the outcome of the game. They must take control of the offensive zone early and put the burners on Seattle. If they can do that, everyone will know who the greater expansion story is on Saturday, instead of the Winter Classic disaster.
