Vegas Golden Knights fans, take a look at the lineup card for a second. What do you see? Rather, let's rephrase it in a Living Colour song.
"Look in my eyes!
What do you see?"

Tomas Hertl is back in the Golden Knights lineup, according to Danny Webster. The center was taken out of commission on March 23 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He sustained an upper-body injury after defenseman Emil Lilleberg checked him from behind on a breakaway chance.
This is fantastic news since the injury appeared more serious than it actually was. What if it were a separated shoulder? What if it were like Shea Theodore's injury, a broken wrist? All these would've been a major cause for concern considering it happened with less than a month left in the regular season. Not having one of your top centers? That's no bueno.
But that's no longer a concern. The only thing Vegas should worry about now is names like Jack Eichel and Alex Pietrangelo returning. Having a full, healthy team again will do wonders for a deep Stanley Cup playoff run.
Mind you, Hertl also brings some scoring back into the lineup. He has 31 goals and 28 assists this season. He's two assists away from joining the exclusive 30/30 club, where names like Eichel and William Karlsson have etched their names. Still, there are more benefits to having the "Fun Must Be Always" ambassador back to lead the charge.
Why Tomas Hertl returning to the Vegas Golden Knights lineup matters
Not long ago, the Vegas Golden Knights had the best power play in the NHL. It was a miracle that this unit was thriving considering its long-troubled history. However, that unit hasn't scored in its last opportunities, bumping it down to... second place (29.1%).
Part of that downslide has been the absence of Tomas Hertl. The 31-year-old has 14 power play goals this season, setting the single-season franchise record. In fact, he's gotten into a friendly competition with Pavel Dorofeyev for most power play goals this season. All of this helps the unit become a dynamic force in the Stanley Cup playoffs. How?
Having a big body in the slot makes the unit threatening again. Now, you don't have to worry about deploying Mark Stone in this spot. You can focus on putting Hertl in front to get feeds or cause deflections and redirections.
It makes life easier for everyone involved. That includes Stone searching for the open man and Shea Theodore seeking a rebound or redirection. No longer do you have a unit that is constantly passing and seeking the open man. Now, that big body returns and reinvents everything.
The Golden Knights shouldn't just improve on the power play, though
It isn't just a power play merchant that you're getting back, though. You're also getting a solid goal-scoring weapon overall. It's not by accident that Tomas Hertl has 31 goals and 28 assists this season. He's been a fundamental part of the Golden Knights offense.
The Prague native fits in well with Bruce Cassidy's two-way forward group, moving up and down the ice fluidly. He can also be deployed in the slot on even-strength opportunities, turning Vegas into a full-fledged threat. When you have a dynamic player returning, it adds another dimension to the offense. That's what you're getting with the Masterton Trophy nominee's presence.
Plus, he's a fun guy to be around. He grows on you. Having a fan favorite brings a smile back to the masses and brightens their days. Now, let's work on getting Jack Eichel and Alex Pietrangelo back into the lineup. That way, fans can see a full-fledged juggernaut get back to work.
