Alright, so the Super Bowl is over and so is the NFL season. That means that it's time to focus on the Olympics, which features the world's best athletes. That includes Jack Eichel, Connor McDavid, and Cale Makar taking center stage. But what happens once the Olympic fun in Milan is over?
Why, it's time to get back to work, of course. That means building off winning the last two games and starting a long winning streak. Obviously, that sounds easy on paper. However, the upcoming schedule says otherwise.
Date | Opponent (ALL ROAD GAMES) |
|---|---|
2/25 | Los Angeles Kings |
2/27 | Washington Capitals |
3/1 | Pittsburgh Penguins |
3/3 | Buffalo Sabres |
3/4 | Detroit Red Wings |
While two of those teams are currently out of playoff position, there are some caveats. First, the Kings recently added dynamic winger Artemi Panarin to the mix. Now, they have 19 goals and 38 assists, bolstering their lineup and making them a goal-scoring threat. Then there are the Capitals, where the Golden Knights are 3-4-0 at Washington all-time.
Besides that, you're facing NHL teams currently in playoff position. Sure, all three might be a hair surprising in the NHL landscape. However, the Golden Knights will have their hands full with the upcoming gauntlet.
There are some good things waiting for the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of their daunting road trip
While all of that sounds scary and daunting for the Golden Knights, some good things lie ahead for the team. First, Brayden McNabb is expected to make his return after the Olympic break. That will provide some back-end stability and take the pressure off Vegas.
Second, this is a veteran group that knows how to win, especially during the later months. The Golden Knights have an all-time record of 69-34-8 in March, making them one of the toughest teams around. When you have accomplished superstars like Jack Eichel and Mark Stone leading the way, that makes the home stretch much more bearable.
That's especially true when teams like the Sabres and the Red Wings haven't had much experience in the crunch time months. These teams haven't come close to the postseason in recent years, indicating that they might have some rough sailing.
Still, it's not going to be easy for the Golden Knights upon returning from the Olympic break. They must take on the daunting task of facing terrific competition once they come back from the Olympics, starting with a tough road trip. But if there's one team that can do it, it's these Golden Knights.
