Let me just say that Robin Lehner was an honorable mention here. A GAA of 2.61 and a save percentage of .910 will stir up a conversation. Alas, it wasn't meant to be, as he was left off the list (albeit by an extremely close margin).
Still, the Vegas Golden Knights have been buoyed by some good goaltending since their inception. They've seen an array of shutouts and have eaten their fair share of donuts along the way. You can say that life has gotten so good that Golden Knights fans have been spoiled like a king.
Still, you probably know the three names by heart by now. One might seem like a controversial pick and might not even make the list in the future. That's what happens when you suffer a litany of lower-body injuries during your Golden Knights career and allow soft goals.
Anyway, let's get this over with. The Golden Knights have three goaltenders that paved the way for the team to succeed. Let's see who those three goaltenders are, shall we?
3.) Adin Hill
Now before you laugh, hear me out. Think back to the 2023 Stanley Cup run when the Golden Knights lost Laurent Brossoit. Vegas desperately need some netminding help and was looking for anyone to step up and take the reins.
Lo and behold, Adin Hill became that guy. The Stanley Cup hero posted a GAA of 2.17 and a save percentage of .932, adding two shutouts to the mix. Yes, you can say that having shot blockers like Alex Pietrangelo and Alec Martinez helped them win (which is true). But without Hill, the Golden Knights don't win their first Stanley Cup. Every other season (sans 2024-25)? Fair game.
2.) Logan Thompson
Here's the funny thing about the Washington Capitals goaltender. He actually posted solid numbers with the Golden Knights before heading over to the Nation's Capital. Thompson had a GAA of 2.67 and a save percentage of .912.
He even added an All-Star nod to the mix (2022-23), building up a great Golden Knights career. Sure, the ending wasn't exactly how he wanted it to be. But the Golden Knights owe him a deal of gratitude for what he contributed, d*mning rumors or not.
1.) Marc-Andre Fleury
You knew this one was coming, yet it was fairly obvious. When you win a Vezina Trophy and post insane stats, you knew that you were going to be No. 1. That's especially true when you post a GAA of 2.41 and a save percentage of .917 in four seasons of your Vegas residency.
Add 23 shutouts to the mix and it's easy to see who the most important goaltender in Golden Knights history is. Fleury has established himself as a key figure in the goaltender realm, setting the standard for what a Golden Knights' netminder should be.
