Sunday thoughts about... transition

Monday will be a day of transition for the United States of America. The Golden Knights hope to transition back to their winning ways.

Whether you're a fan of the incoming U.S. President, Donald Trump, or not (yes, he's the President now), Monday marks an important day in America's lifetime. A new regime will roll in, coinciding with another important holiday: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The holiday commemorates King's vital "I Have A Dream" speech, where he talked about racial change and justice in the United States (and the world).

But many Vegas Golden Knights fans will pay attention for a few hours. Then, it's Golden Knights hockey as Mark Stone and the boys take on the St. Louis Blues. Remember folks, Golden Knights hockey always comes before everything else, including a new world leader being elected.

But enough about who's in the White House. We know who's transitioning come Monday. Plus, politics can be dicey, where it's 30-somethings screaming at their Boomer parents about nothing. It's a good thing that hockey season is afoot because if a big argument broke out between both sides, well...

That's why fans need to focus on watching the Golden Knights (hopefully) transition back to a winning team. Losing five of your last six games has fans worried about falling in the playoff standings, specifically with the Edmonton Oilers looming. So what's the best way to transition into something new (and better)?

Thinking about transitioning into something new

While I was covering Mark Stone and the Vegas Golden Knights, I was working at a local animal clinic taking care of all the kitties and doggies. The animals were the best part, for you got to see their smiling, happy faces. The owners (for the most part) were friendly as well, with the exception of those that made a facial expression like Vigo the Carpathian.

But some personal things led me to explore my writing further. That meant getting into a routine and posting regularly. That also meant doing more research, dotting the "I's" and crossing the "T's", and finding interesting things to write about. Sometimes, it take leaving your comfort zone to truly grow as a person.

The Golden Knights are in a period where they'll need to transition into something different themselves. Losers of five of their last six games, the team has cooled off since the hot December month (10-2-0 record). The good news is they're sitting comfortably in the playoff race thanks to the early cushion they amassed.

In fact, Bruce Cassidy is no stranger to shaking up his lineup for more production. When he arrived on the scene in 2022-23, the "Misfit Line" of Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, and Reilly Smith was a hit. However, the group went through a slump during the season, leaving the head coach to search for an alternative solution. The end result? Well, you know how that happened, dear reader (AND they reunited one last time for Game 5).

Sometimes, it takes time to get comfortable in a new position. But the Golden Knights have some time to look at what can work and what won't, heading into Monday's game against the Blues. That way, Cassidy and company can cook up a solid strategy to start winning games. By the way, this blog doesn't endorse anybody for the office of U.S. President... Unless they're a member of the Golden Knights Party.
