Sunday thoughts about... Thoughts

What does this long weekend teach us about thoughts? What do the Golden Knights have to think about for next season?

Ah, Memorial Day. It's a day to honor those who fought for our country and have fallen in combat. Be sure to pour one out for those who've made the ultimate sacrifice for us to be free.

Also, remember that's what Memorial Day is primarily for. It goes beyond grilling hot dogs and hamburgers and having the day off, after all. We celebrate the people who think of others and their freedoms.

You can say it's a day of thought and reflection as well. The Vegas Golden Knights have plenty of thoughts for themselves.

"Where did it all go wrong?"

"What can we do to better ourselves?"

There are also thoughts about an aging roster. According to LeftWingLock, the Golden Knights are tied for the fourth-oldest roster in the NHL this season (29.9), which has partially contributed to the team's problems. You have players like Alex Pietrangelo (35) and Mark Stone (33) who'll be sticking around for a few more years.

What will you do with them, considering they're paid good salaries and can't be moved? That's another question to consider.

Most of all, will Jack Eichel get signed? He's in the last year of his eight-year, $80 million contract and will be a free agent after 2025-26. He's due a big payday and will be a cornerstone for Vegas for years to come.

There are also personal thoughts on the home front

Of course, there are some exciting thoughts on the personal front. First will be the traveling for next season. That will consist of trips to Tampa, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Montreal.

That's right, folks. Another trip to Canada and an "Original Six" city is in store. Brush up on your hockey history and get your ten-gallon hats and In-N-Out Burger. It's going to be a fun ride.

There are also some home games to explore. Which teams will be fun to watch next season? The Oilers? Kraken? What about the Panthers? It'll be time to watch Adin Hill and the boys again. Is it October yet?

Hockey is meant to be enjoyable, no matter where you are. That includes your own backyard, where you can watch your favorite team play hockey at T-Mobile Arena. By the way, there's an international trip planned for the future, in case you're wondering.

There are plenty of thoughts to be had during Memorial Day weekend. That includes reflecting on those personally close to you who aren't there anymore. They made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the country.
