Sunday thoughts about... the halfway mark

We're past the halfway mark of summer. That means one thing, Vegas Golden Knights fans. Hockey is coming back sooner than expected.

Do you want to know what I love more than anything? A good nap. Whenever I'm mentally out of it, I take a rest and heal up my body. One or two hours later, I'm refreshed and awake, ready to take on any incoming house chores.

But I can also use that newfound motivation to write more articles about the Vegas Golden Knights. Here, I can talk about how Shea Theodore is one of the most important Original Misfits in franchise history and elaborate on his importance. Life is good, isn't it?

What's even better is we're past the halfway point of the summer. Do you know what that means, my friend? That means we're creeping closer to the NHL season starting. The more you know!

But in all seriousness, this leads to more anticipation. It means gold carpets and the first game of the Golden Knights' season is drawing near. It means the temperatures start dropping and the bloc parties come to an end (except if they're VGK-themed). It's hockey time.

When I woke up and realized this, I was overjoyed. I'm ready to yell at my television screen for random players I've barely met in my life to shoot the puck. I'm ready to do postgame coverage and travel to different hockey cities while taking in the different cultures.

That's the beauty of being a fan. You enjoy the game beyond the game itself. You enjoy the fans from the 31 other teams and what their various traditions and legends are. You enjoy watching competitive hockey at its finest, complete with wild goals and incredible plays.

On top of that, you enjoy watching a team that most people hate for no reason. Is it October 8th yet?
