Sometimes, life can hit you with the hardest news possible. No, this doesn't concern your favorite sports team being eliminated prematurely. I'm talking more about losing a family member.
This doesn't concern anybody from the Vegas Golden Knights. However, it does concern an NHL player. Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets lost his father to an unexpected death hours before Game 6 of the second round. It's something that can leave an athlete devastated, especially if the news breaks just before a crucial game.
But that didn't stop Scheifele from scoring an incredible goal in honor of his late father. In fact, it was the first goal of the game, inspiring awe and smiles among the hockey crowd.
Sometimes, we get lost in the various angering newsbits and bad news. It eats us alive and breaks us down. However, moments like this are a simple reminder that life is bigger than sports.
While the Dallas Stars ultimately prevailed in overtime, 2-1, Scheifele's teammates comforted and consoled him after the game. Moments like that prove the previous point, where life prevails over all.
Don't forget to enjoy life, Vegas Golden Knights fans
While the Vegas Golden Knights are no longer playing hockey, that doesn't mean life stops. There are plenty of people to meet, along with plenty of things to do. It'll be hockey season all over again before you know it!
Also, understand this one thing, Golden Knights fans. Your family can consist of whoever you feel most comfortable around. For many of us, it's our own blood since we've known them since "Day F****** One." For others, they might have a contentious relationship with their families. Therefore, their closest friends are their families.
Regardless, don't forget to tell your family how much you love them. Tell them that you appreciate having them around. It doesn't matter if it's your closest friends, your own blood, or even the Facebook friend who sends you daily prayers. Let them know you appreciate them.
After all, we only have one life to live. Why spend it getting mad at things that are out of our control? Enjoy it with your team and let them know you love and appreciate them.
