Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
That's a classic saying that Dr. Seuss coined whenever something sad happens in our lives. That's especially true when our favorite sports teams are eliminated from the postseason. It's time to shut down T-Mobile Arena until October, when the regular season starts up again.
Yes, the Vegas Golden Knights are no more for the 2024-25 season. Yes, there are questions concerning specific players playing their last season in sunny Las Vegas. However, that doesn't mean the anticipation won't be building up for 2025-26.
After all, that's the beauty of sports. You can watch your rival compete in the finals and even win it all. However, you can come back the next season get back on top.
Just look at the Ohio State Buckeyes football team. They watched their hated rivals, the Michigan Wolverines, win the National Championship in college football in 2023. The next season? The Buckeyes took the title back.
If you're the Golden Knights, you must have that mentality going into next season. Be the Buckeyes and have a big ol' revenge tour. Add Marner if you want for Jack Eichel. Heck, Ehlers or Boeser works, too. You've got extra defensemen to work with. Why not make room for another piece?
Just find a way to have that revenge tour going. The fanbase will be revitalized and your rivals will sulk in their holey chairs and "black licorice lover" comforters. Who knows? Maybe your rivals will start quoting Dr. Seuss to get them through the summer.
