Sunday thoughts about... dogs

The canine has been man's best friend for a long time. It's also been the best friend of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Dogs have been man's best friend since the dawn of time. They serve many purposes, whether it's hunting on a cold November day or protecting the household when everyone's asleep. The Vegas Golden Knights are no stranger to the four-legged friend, for they've had plenty throughout the team's history.

First, there's Maverick, the adorable Yellow Labrador Retriever. He's undergoing 16-18 weeks of basic training and socialization with the Golden Knights. He's also been the good luck mascot since last season, gracing fans with his adorable presence.

There's also William Karlsson (who would be a Golden Retriever if he were a dog) and his dog, Obi-Wan. If you don't remember the story, he was rescued from a Korean dog meat trade. Now, he's growing on Instagram with over 14,000 followers and protecting his newest baby brother, Becks.

It's safe to say the Golden Knights have a healthy relationship with canines. They've become an essential part of hockey viewing in Las Vegas. When you're preparing for another game with Jack Eichel, make sure your furry friend is with you. You'll never know if your dog will be a good-luck charm for the Golden Knights (they are).

Dogs are like hockey: Comforting, always fun, and much-needed from the perils of the real world

In case you've been living under a rock, there's an election in two days. The fight between the Democrats and Republicans will end, with a presidential candidate elected. One side will cry and throw a temper tantrum while the other will celebrate. Then, the same thing will happen in four years, rinse and repeat.

Fortunately, dogs are terrific at taking the pain away from hearing any political banter. No longer are you subjected to hearing people on Twitter call each other names. That's as painful as having a sword wedged in your ear.

Instead, you have the comfort and love of a cute furry friend. They greet you with a smiling, panting face as they await your next adventure. The good news is this nightmare (including the endless text messages and spam calls) will end. Be sure to hug your furbaby tight and tell them you love them.

Hang in there, dear reader

Instead, it'll be Vegas Golden Knights hockey, where the team will face the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. After that, it'll be business as usual for hockey fans, with Chance, the Vegas Vivas, Maverick, and other Golden Knights staples awaiting your wonderful presence.

Hang in there, dear reader. We're near the end of the tunnel for this tumultuous time. Finally, you'll get an answer for when the Golden Knights will win their first road game. You'll finally have Obi as the sole focus of your Instagram time, as you see him grow with his newest brother.

The beautiful thing about hockey is you can escape and watch a game from the comfort of your home. You can chill with your best friend and feed them all the treats in the world. Maybe cover up a squeaky shark toy with peanut butter and have them tear it up. Just make sure you clean up the mess afterwards.
