Sunday thoughts about... days off

What do you like doing on your day(s) off? Do you like watching Vegas Golden Knights hockey? Or do you work out?

When you have the day off, what do you do with your life? Are you like every rational person and watch Vegas Golden Knights hockey? Perhaps you crack open a beer and tell your friends how great Mark Stone and Jack Eichel are at hockey. Just make sure there's more than one beer left in the fridge.

Still, that brings up an interesting topic: Having the day off. See, dear reader, the Golden Knights had five days between games before their three-game road trip. It started after their game on December 6th against the Dallas Stars and ended on December 12th against the Winnipeg Jets.

The result? Well, let's just say they got four out of a possible six points from the ordeal. A well-rested team that came back 100% sans Ivan Barbashev in the game against the Minnesota Wild is among the NHL's top teams. Fans are happy and everyone is grooving along to the happy tunes.

But let's explore the topic of taking the day off further. What do you like doing when you aren't working? What makes you happy when you're not punching in and out? Allow me to share a personal account of the various things I do with the day off.

Personal hobbies when the Vegas Golden Knights aren't playing

Obviously, the Vegas Golden Knights are the main hobby. I love watching every game and seeing superstars like Jack Eichel and Mark Stone play in the NHL. Of course, this love has been around since "Day F****** One," when the Golden Knights started in 2017-18.

During my trip to Las Vegas, I came across T-Mobile Arena. It stood within sight of my hotel, New York New York. Wonders of a new hockey team playing littered my mind. Going to these games and seeing the new kids on the block play were skating in my head. Lo and behold, they made the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season, with a Stanley Cup in the sixth season.

I also love working out and exercising. Currently, I'm doing strength training to build up my body strength. That ranges from lat pulldowns to the bench press. That way, I can make like Ivan Barbashev and lay out people that do dumb things. I also love rooting for the San Francisco 49ers (even though the team has come close to winning the Super Bowl in recent years). Finally, I love cooking. I embrace my inner chef and create a concoction of meals, ranging from steak to a vegetable dish. Hey, you gotta work on becoming the next Keegan Kolesar, right?

These hobbies act as a release for me, keeping my mind away from life's stresses and struggles. It's also a great way to keep oneself occupied, helping people meet new friends. That's what makes life worth living, even when dealing with unruly events and people. So cherish your hobbies and hold them to your heart. Also, make sure that following Eichel and the Golden Knights is one of those!
