Sunday thoughts about... curveballs

No, this doesn't have to do with baseball (although spring training starts this month). Instead, it involves trades, both in the NBA and NHL.

Maybe the Luka Doncic trade works out for the Los Angeles Lakers like Hertl with the Golden Knights

The NBA did the unthinkable on Saturday. It took away some of the buzz from the Super Bowl and Nick Wright's love affair with one of the participants. For months, the league has dealt with numerous issues, including workload management, boring analytics, and tanking ratings. However, the buzz around the trade has made the league interesting again, with LeBron James getting a shiny new toy.

The purpose of getting a player like Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers is to get a franchise piece for the future. Once LeBron retires and does more Sprite commercials, the Slovenian star will take the reins and usher in a new era of "Lakeshow" basketball. Build a team around him and Los Angeles will be back on top of the NBA world.

Laker fans are hoping that trade is as successful as the Golden Knights acquiring Tomas Hertl from the San Jose Sharks. Doncic could be the ringleader the team needs, orchestrating breathtaking plays and leading Los Angeles back to prominence. Just keep him away from the In-N-Out burgers and animal style fries, eh?
