Believe it or not, the Vegas Golden Knights have a representative in the 2025 Rookie Showcase. It's a name fans have become familiar with over the past year.

The Vegas Golden Knights don't have a good farm system. They have plenty of players who probably won't crack the main roster (or any NHL roster, for that matter), leaving the Golden Knights in a rough position. But that's the price you pay for having a competitive team consistently in the running for a Stanley Cup.

Womp womp.

Still, that didn't stop one prospect from being invited to attend the 15th annual 2025 NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Arlington, Virginia. Trevor Connelly will make his way down to the state for lovers on September 3rd, representing the Golden Knights along the way.

Last season, the former first-round pick scored a goal and three assists in six games with the Henderson Silver Knights. He also had four goals and nine assists in 23 games with the Providence Friars, establishing himself firmly as an up-and-coming prospect.

It's a cool honor for the young prospect, who'll play in an event hosted by Upper Deck. He'll be joined by other noteworthy prospects such as Zeev Buium of the Minnesota Wild, Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders, and Sam Dickinson of the San Jose Sharks.

Despite playing in one of the most forgettable farm systems in the NHL, Connelly has earned himself the distinction of representing the Golden Knights here. With a controversial yet productive amateur career, it's a step in the right direction for the young prospect. He can wow spectators in the showcase and prove to everyone he's moving in the right direction.

Who knows? That might lead to being on the Golden Knights sooner rather than later. All it takes is taking one step at a time, you know. That's what makes the journey to the NHL so great.
