He might be a distraction for the Vegas Golden Knights

One will point at Corey Perry being on the losing end of the Stanley Cup Final in three of the last four seasons. That consists of brief tenures with the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, and Tampa Bay Lightning. He's close to making it four out of five, with Edmonton down 2-0 against the Florida Panthers.

However, that's not the main reason why the Vegas Golden Knights should pass on him in free agency. Earlier this season, the Chicago Blackhawks determined that Perry engaged in detrimental conduct while on the team. Therefore, he was let go from his hockey-playing duties.

While Chicago isn't releasing details on the private matter, fan speculation ran rampant on the matter. Whether it was having a fling with Connor Bedard's mother or workplace misconduct, it was distracting for the Blackhawks. But it's also troubling for a team like the Golden Knights when combined with his age.

Granted, there won't be any extracurricular activities with anybody's mother in Vegas. However, a similar scandal would prove distracting for a team trying to win another Stanley Cup. Why take a shot in free agency on someone who violated business matters in Chicago?
