Wednesday "Knight" wisdom about... food

Bar food and sports go together like... peanut butter and jelly. Here's the food I'm eating for Vegas Golden Knights games this season.

There's nothing that screams "America" like food. No matter what you do and how you celebrate life, it's part of what makes our culture special. People from different backgrounds and origins bring their delicacies passed down from previous generations to enrich our melting pot of a country. You can try Filipino lumpia one day and have pizza the next day. It's part of what makes this country unique.

That's especially true regarding sporting events and the Vegas Golden Knights. Fans can get their fair share of grub before or during the game inside T-Mobile Arena. Perhaps you want a nice draft at Beerhaus before heading to the game? No problem. You're covered. Maybe you want a delicious Reese's peanut butter milkshake from New York New York? It's within walking distance from the arena.

Now, you don't have to scream about not having your cheese (unless they have it on the side. How will you watch Alex Pietrangelo make magical passes without it?) come game time. You want that, especially if you're ordering nachos.

However, these are the two items I'm going with for the upcoming hockey season. These two can't be beat and satisfy the hunger monster lying within the stomach. Here's what I'm ordering when the Golden Knights take the ice.

Foods I'm enjoying during the Vegas Golden Knights season, starting with Roberto's chicken tacos

Have you ever had authentic tacos where the shells weren't genetically modified to look perfect? Do they use actual tortillas deep-fried ALONG with the chicken itself? Sprinkle some lettuce, Mexican cheddar cheese mix, and enchilado cheese, all for $1.59 per taco on Wednesday. That's the Roberto's experience, which has become my go-to meal for each Vegas Golden Knights game.

Usually, I'll order five or six chicken tacos and have an incredible dinner. This would come after a long day of work, where I needed something to decompress from dealing with... angry people. That also applies to egocentric co-workers who get off on being right or annoying, for Roberto's tacos were a solid substitute for punching someone in the face.

Anyway, try the green and red salsa if you dare. For me, it passes through the stomach and acts as a colonic irrigation system in the bathroom, clearing out everything within me. Still, these delectable Mexican treasures can also be enjoyed without salsa, where the chicken and cheese hit right. If you're watching the Golden Knights play, it's worth picking up dinner here.

It's Just Wings? It's just amazing

If you're not getting food at T-Mobile Arena, it's worth ordering it at home. Of course, getting food delivered can be an expensive ordeal in today's economy. But you probably want to treat yourself while watching your superstars like Jack Eichel play for the Vegas Golden Knights. Perhaps you got that new job. Maybe you're finally getting a new house.

Whatever the case, there's a place called It's Just Wings. Okay, it's Chili's. However, I've enjoyed curly fries from the establishment and the variety of sauces and seasonings. That includes the ol' reliable buffalo sauce and garlic parmesan, acting as a party in your mouth. Curly fries and chicken wings are a winning combination anywhere, which holds true when watching Alex Pietrangelo make a clean pass to William Karlsson.

Yes, it sounds corny that I'm praising a chain restaurant for its food. However, Chili's goes all-in on its gameday specialty, whether it's the NFL season or during the hockey months. Americans love the poultry delicacy, especially since you can mix a variety of sauces and seasonings with them. With It's Just Wings, you can have a party for you and your fellow Golden Knights fans while watching them win.
