Predicting the 2024-25 season for Hutton

As it stands, the current Vegas Golden Knights roster will be the Opening Night group. That'll consist of the following defensive pairings:

  • Alex Pietrangelo and Noah Hanifin
  • Shea Theodore and Brayden McNabb
  • Nicolas Hague and Zach Whitecloud

That leaves Ben Hutton as the odd man out, where he'll look to maximize his opportunities. Let's assume the Golden Knights ride it out with their current six defensemen. What does the new hockey season hold for the odd man out?

Hutton should play 40 games with the Golden Knights, scoring three goals and six assists. If a defensive pairing opens up, he should play more games (let's say 70 for this exercise) and score five goals and 11 assists. Again, this will depend on how desperate Kelly McCrimmon is regarding clearing cap space. It appears that he's content with his current team, meaning the Prescott, Ontario native will be waiting in the wings.

Opportunities to start in the NHL are lucrative, giving players the hope they'll impact their team. They could affect the team positively, giving the fanbase more reason to believe in a Stanley Cup run. You better believe Hutton will patiently wait for his chance to get into the lineup. When it comes, fans should expect him to be ready and raring to go.
