William Karlsson has touched the lives of numerous Vegas Golden Knights fans. Whether it's his on-ice contributions or charitable work outside the rink, the Swedish forward has made his presence felt at T-Mobile Arena. That comes with the territory of being an "Original Misfit," where you set the franchise record for most goals in a single season (43).
His on-ice contributions have helped the Golden Knights throughout the years. He's scored 152 goals and 215 assists in seven seasons with the team. The "Misfit" also has top billing for the short-handed goals record, scoring 12 all-time with Vegas. He's tied in this category with Reilly Smith, who was traded in the 2023 off-season.
But fans should see a lighter side of their beloved "Misfit." Everyone loves a good personality, especially when that person can relate to the masses. Fortunately, the Golden Knights have been blessed to have picked up this one-of-a-kind player who has become part of the Las Vegas community.
This is for those not familiar with Karlsson and his personal side. It's time to meet the man who gave the infamous "Day F****** One" speech, serenading his buddy, Jonathan Marchessault, with praise. Who's the man known as "Wild Bill" and what are his favorite things? What does he get extremely passionate about in life? Let's have some one-on-one time with the Swedish center and see what makes him tick.
Getting to know Vegas Golden Knights legend, William Karlsson
When William Karlsson isn't spending time scoring goals at T-Mobile Arena (or anywhere else in the world), he's rooting for his favorite soccer team. That would be AIK, who he watched fervently growing up. It was his dream to make the team one day, aiming to play in the World Cup. Imagine Karlsson playing against Cristiano Ronaldo in front of a global crowd.
The Swedish forward also has a golden retriever/jindo mix that he rescued from a Korean dog meat farm. His name is Obi-Wan, named after the famous Star Wars character. Obi-Wan has developed a cult following among Vegas Golden Knights fans and hockey lovers alike with his own Instagram. That's what happens when you use the force as an adorable dog.
Karlsson also tried boiled egg on spaghetti, per suggestion from his fellow teammate, Jonathan Marchessault. It was a way of getting more protein in his diet, making him stronger. Of course, Marchessault ribbed him for the meal, stating that he was a "psychotic." Still, this is old-fashioned fun between two long-time friends, which was also enjoyed by Golden Knights fans.
