Alex Pietrangelo, played by Edward Norton

Originally, the pick was going to be Alec Martinez being played by James Franco. The pick was almost perfect, with a potential appearance by Seth Rogan as an Edmonton Oiler and his patented laugh. It was nearly perfect except for one minor detail: James Franco has been accused numerous times of sexual misconduct. That includes some advances toward an underaged girl, which wouldn't be good for the film (or Martinez).

Instead, let's stick with Alex Pietrangelo being cast by Edward Norton. The American History X star has been known to be difficult to deal with, which would be up Pietrangelo's alley. Ask Leon Draisaitl how hard it is to face an incoming Canadian defenseman. It's not fun and it leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Still, Edward Norton maintains a strong work ethic the same way Pietrangelo does on the ice. With his penchant for going hard on every play, it makes sense that the defenseman would be portrayed by a hardworking actor like Norton. After all, the Boston native knows how to perfect a role, which would be a good fit for playing the former St. Louis Blue. They just need the Fight Club star to grow a beard.
