Pavel Dorofeyev is living the good life right now. Last season, he led the Vegas Golden Knights in goals scored (35) and already leads the team in goals for this season (five). His eye-opening performance was enough to earn First-Star honors from the NHL on Monday.

Add four power play goals to the mix and it's easy to see why the winger earned such an incredible distinction. He's been the primary goal-scorer for the Golden Knights, with Jack Eichel a distant second with two goals. Vegas already picked up where it left off from last season on the power play, too. Currently, they rank seventh in the league with a power play percentage of 30.8%.
His incredible performance started last Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings, where he scored a hat trick. Dorofeyev scored all three goals in the second period, helping Vegas get a point from the matchup. The third-round pick from the 2019 NHL Draft led the NHL in goals scored heading into Monday's slate, signaling a rise in the young star's spectacular play.
The past two seasons have seen an uprising of sorts from the 24-year-old superstar. He's evolving his game at an incredible level, turning into everything the Golden Knights wanted. The latest honors show that he's capable of competing at a high level, elevating everything around him as well.
That could crank open the Stanley Cup contention window for the Golden Knights. Their veteran roster isn't getting any younger, with names like Mark Stone (33 years old) and William Karlsson (32) taking up space. Who knows? Dorofeyev could start a new youth movement in Las Vegas.
