Pavel Dorofeyev had two power play goals, and Adin Hill had 15 saves for the Golden Knights in a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. Keegan Kolesar and Tomas Hertl had the other two goals for Vegas who had their brief two-game losing streak ended.
Ryan Hartman had the lone goal for Minnesota who saw their six-game winning streak ended. Filip Gustavsson also had 33 saves in a heroic effort for the losing team.
Outside of the fight between Keegan Kolesar and Marcus Foligno and the lovely ovation the Fortress gave beloved Golden Knight Marc-Andre Fleury from the bench though, the first period looked like an amalgam of the past couple of games. It consisted of great goaltending and a forward press from Vegas that maintained control through the first half of the period, resulting in a shift in momentum near the second period. It was a turnover that turned into a breakaway, and…
The second period started in a very similar way. It seemed through the first five minutes that we might be looking at another repeat of the Islanders game; a stout defense slowly beating the Golden Knights offensively into submission. Then came the first crack of luck in this mini homestand. A couple of Wild penalties came back-to-back in as many seconds, leading (after a good deal of hammer and chisel work) to one of the bright lights in the power play shining again.
The Vegas Golden Knights build momentum off Pavel Dorofeyev's goal
Fueled by that second-period goal and the dominance that followed, Vegas pounced with fierce energy into the third that’s been lacking in the homestand, firing shot after shot at Filip Gustavsson. He was locked in just as well as he was in the second period. Then, another note of luck struck in the Golden Knights's favor to give them the lead.
With the lead, Vegas took supreme control throughout the third period. Minnesota was held after that Kolesar goal to a total of two shots, while Vegas had eight shots. Two of those found the back of the net- the first being the result of a great one-man effort by Tomas Hertl.
The second one was on the power play from Dorofeyev, one that seemed to have been copied and pasted from the tying goal. That put both the game and the brief two-game losing streak out to pasture.

The rare sighting of a proper road trip, one that Vegas hasn’t gone on since around this time last month. They start on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators at 5 P.M. They're an enigma of a hockey team that reminds me a little bit of Vegas around this time last year. It's better than their record indicates and deadly in the postseason if they ever get it together (the "if" carrying more weight than Supergirl can bench press). Anyway, it should be fun on a bun. Until then...
