One Golden Knights superstar who must have a massive Game 4

Some fans have been rumbling about one superstar's lack of offensive output. How deep are the gold medalist's scoring issues?

People have been rumbling about Jack Eichel's 2026 Stanley Cup playoff performance. They've talked about how the Olympic gold medalist hasn't shown up like his protege, Mitch Marner. Two goals during the Stanley Cup playoffs aren't going to inspire tons of confidence in people, you know?

The funny thing about all this is that he's still averaging over a point per game. 20 points in 19 games (1.05 points per game) is actually good compared to the competition. In fact, that's second on the Golden Knights with Marner leading the way (1.47 points per game).

Still, people are concerned about the goal-scoring side of things. His last goal came in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche, where he also chipped in an assist in a 3-1 win. But since that game, he's only had two assists in five games, leaving some points off the board.

That's not going to get the job done for the Golden Knights, who are looking to put the Carolina Hurricanes away. They need their franchise player to be, well, a franchise player. They need him to explode in Game 4 and take the bull by the horns.

Mind you, he's gone six games without a point this postseason, which leaves some people worried. Of course, that's with good reason since he's the man leading the Golden Knights franchise. Still, it's worth seeing how Eichel can rebound and take charge. Here's how the gold medalist can help Vegas take a commanding 3-1 lead against the Carolina Hurricanes.

How Jack Eichel can take charge for the Vegas Golden Knights against the Carolina Hurricanes

One trend that has stood out for Eichel in the past five games has been the shots on goal. That includes an absent Game 2 performance against the Hurricanes, where he didn't have a shot on goal in 22:22 of TOI.

This has been a common cry among Golden Knights fans, where they've been vocal about Eichel not taking enough shots. While that wasn't true during the regular season (260 shots on goal), he's third in the postseason with 46 shots on goal heading into Game 4.

Marner leads the Golden Knights in shots on goal this postseason and that's translated into being the Conn Smythe front-runner. Marner has a shooting percentage of 18.9, which is fifth on the Golden Knights. As for Eichel? He's last for all Golden Knights players who have a goal with 4.3%.

Of course, that also translates into a need for a better shot selection. Marner has a Corsi of 55% and a Fenwick on 56%, while Eichel has a Corsi of 51% and a Fenwick of 54% entering Game 4. The objective for Vegas is to ensure that there isn't too much Hurricane traffic in front of its gold medalist. That way, he can get more solid high-danger chances.

Golden Knights fans will be watching intently to see if their superstar will finally break through. They need everyone on board to bring home the team's second Stanley Cup. That includes their gold medalist, who's suddenly leaving fans worried.
