The people want the Vegas Golden Knights to give Jack Eichel a contract extension. They want him to stick around for the long term and carry the franchise to glory. The bad news? A deal hasn't been done yet.

The good news? NHL insiders and reporters are confident that a deal will get done before the season starts. The man who confirmed this tidbit on Tuesday was none other than... Frank Seravalli.

Sure, some fans might take this with a wee bit of salt considering that Frank's "Frank Bombs" haven't necessarilly hit. This is the same guy who talked about Mitch Marner getting $14 million AAV, after all.

However, this does inspire some confidence in the fanbase. They've clamored for the deal to get done and have pestered the Golden Knights throughout the summer. They've even gathered on Kelly McCrimmon's front yard to ask for the deal to be done.

Could we finally see a deal get to the finish line for Jack Eichel and the Vegas Golden Knights?

We shall see. There hasn't been much in recent weeks that revealed any progress or newsworthy bits, leaving fans concerned. However, fans can't forget a couple of things.

First, McCrimmon has done contract extensions during the regular season before. It's been mentioned numerous times, yet it remains true. Last season, he gave contract extensions to five different Golden Knights. That included Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb, and Adin Hill.

Second, simply letting Eichel walk would damage McCrimmon's reputation as a general manager forever. He would be seen as someone who routinely cuts his nose to spite his face.

Also, people would question who he signed Mitch Marner in the first place. Unless you have a better move in mind (i.e., Connor McDavid), not re-signing Eichel wouldn't be the smartest move. You could sour Marner on coming to Vegas and leave the locker room shaken up without your main superstar.

All that sounds horrifying and terrible. However, fans shouldn't lose their minds over their premier superstar leaving town yet. There's still plenty of time to get a deal done, especially with McCrimmon's track record.

What are those three letters that motivational speakers use every now and then? Oh yeah.

Trust the process.
