Vegas Golden Knights fans don't want to remember what Kirill Kaprizov did to them in the Stanley Cup playoffs last season. The Russian winger scored five goals and four assists in the series, nearly eliminating the Golden Knights by himself. On Sunday, he got his revenge.
Kaprizov scored the overtime winner for the Wild and sealed the game, 3-2. He was joined on the scoring train by Joel Eriksson Ek and Yakov Trenin. Filip Gustavsson, another haunting ghost of Golden Knights' playoff past, stopped 23 of 25 shots. That was good enough for the win, whereas Vegas ended up with three of four points on a short two-game road trip.
As for Carl Lindbom? Well, he had a nice outing with a couple of shots in questions. The stats might show that he stopped 24 of 27 shots. However, he kept Vegas in the game and even got them a loser point.
While you want to start converting on those overtime games and get more than loser points, you can't deny that the Golden Knights needed this. You'd want to step up against rising teams like the Wild, who've won six of their last games. It wasn't going to be easy for Vegas in that regard, which makes the added point a lifesaver.

Overall, it was a chaotic night that saw numerous memes and moments. It didn't matter if it was Reilly Smith putting the team on his shoulders (more on that later) or Bruce Cassidy laughing and clapping at the referees after an overtime hooking call on Shea Theodore.0 Sunday's game had a roller-coaster ride that felt like a fever dream.
Don't forget to clap, ladies and gentlemen.
The Vegas Golden Knights power play had a strong showing against the Minnesota Wild
Make all the jokes you want about the Wild's penalty kill being mediocre (26th in the NHL at 73.8%). But getting two power play goals on four opportunities is a great showing. Both units got in on the scoring, tying the game at every turn.
Pavel Dorofeyev scored his 22nd career power play goal in the first period. He got an outside feed, burying it and getting assists from Mitch Marner and Tomas Hertl. It was a bingo-bango play that was also the perfect response for the Golden Knights.

As for the other goal? It was none other than Reilly Smith. Power play scoring from the second unit was a massive boost, getting Vegas off the collective snide. Speaking of Smith...
Reilly Smith continues to show his value for the Vegas Golden Knights
When William Karlsson went down with a lower-body injury (week-to-week, mind you), it was a devastating loss for the Golden Knights. You lost a reliable two-way player who was also efficient on special teams. However, it appears that his fellow Misfit is picking up the slack.
Reilly Smith buried the game-tying goal in the third period, giving the power play added juice. Considering that the second unit only had one goal heading into Sunday's game, it's a refreshing change of pace.
That change of pace could also be what the secondary scoring needed. A couple of weeks ago, fans were worried that the depth players were aging out. However, that doesn't appear to be the case for Smith, who's suddenly becoming a force again.
