Everyone knows that the Vegas Golden Knights are big on size. It doesn't matter if it was Nicolas Hague or Alex Pietrangelo gracing the blue line. Vegas knows a thing or two about bulking up the defenseman group, especially with the latest contract: Bronson Ride.
The 21-year-old is currently playing for the OHL's North Bay Battalion in his third season. He has four goals and 17 assists in 2025-26, leading the Battalion to second place in the Central Division. He signs a three-year, entry-level deal with the Golden Knights, bringing a left-handed shot to the team.

Ride also played for the Windsor Spitfires (2021-23) and the Niagara Ice Dogs (2022-24), spending plenty of time around the OHL. We're talking about five seasons' worth of experience, giving him plenty of seasoning at the amateur level. The undrafted defenseman stands at 6'6", making him perfect for the blue line out of the gate.
You know what time it is, dear reader. Let's sit down and get to know the 21-year-old and see what makes him tick. After all, Golden Knights fans know how to welcome their players and make them feel like they're a part of the community!
A short summary of what Bronson Ride brings to the table
No, this isn't Bronson Reed. However, Ride is a massive defenseman, as previously mentioned. The Golden Knights are no strangers to having big blue liners on the lower units, especially with names like Pietrangelo and Hague.
But they're also no strangers to making undrafted players into something. That includes Logan Thompson and Braeden Bowman, both of whom have either carved out an important role with Vegas or are carving out said roles. That should inspire confidence in the fanbase regarding his upside. That's especially true with his shot, which has the potential to improve.
This was a squirter that squeaked past the goaltender. But like all other prospects, the Golden Knights defenseman can become a viable offensive superstar. Just look at names like Jeremy Lauzon, who already tied his career-high for assists this season (Lauzon achieved this mark in 2022-23).
You already have a defenseman who takes up space in the defensive zone and is a tough matchup. Considering that Vegas desperately needs more sizable stay-at-home defensemen, Ride is a good fit for the lineup.
For Ride, the sky's the limit. If he can capitalize on his opportunities and shine in the minor leagues, there's no telling what he can do for the Golden Knights. That includes carving out a big role on the lower pairs, where he can usher in a new era of Vegas stay-at-home defenders.
