A disheartening 6-5 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings has some Vegas Golden Knights fans acting like it's the end of the world. Even saying they got a point from the ordeal wasn't enough to ease their crazed minds.
"HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?"
Look, it's the first game of the regular season. Get a bowl of cherrios, relax, and tune in for the next game. Everything's going to be fine.
The good news? The Golden Knights face the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. If you know about the anime lore, Vegas is 27-2-5 all-time against San Jose. That's enough to make a bellhop's head explode... or melt.
You could be waiting some time for that Golden Knights downfall, Josh.
Anyways, it's safe to say that Vegas has owned San Jose throughout their franchise history. Recent memory states that the games haven't even been close. The Golden Knights have outscored San Jose in the last five games by a score of 26-12. In fact, they've won seven straight games against San Jose! Now that's an arse-whoopin'.
But let's look at Thursday's match-up between the two "rivals." What's in store as the Golden Knights look to get their first win of the 2025-26 season? Who are some names that Golden Knights fans will keep a close eye on?
Previewing the Vegas Golden Knights against the San Jose Sharks: Bellhop Edition
First, this will be the first regular season game for the Sharks. Think of what the Vegas Golden Knights went through on Wednesday before the game, only with sleepovers and baby sharks (doo doo doo doo doo doo). They're looking to finally return to the Stanley Cup playoffs and bring the elusive Stanley Cup to the Bay Area. Mind you, they don't have an established captain for the season.
Don't expect stud goaltender Yaroslav Askarov to hit the ice, though. According to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, he won't be playing after staying late.

Still, the team's filled with young superstars, including Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. The top line should become one of the most formidable units in the upcoming years. While they don't look to contend for the forthcoming season, they're prepping for a Stanley Cup run with Celebrini and Smith on board. That's something that Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights must watch for in that timeframe, ensuring they keep up with their adversaries.
Finally, it's a reunion with Ryan Reaves! The beloved Las Vegas figure spent four seasons with the Golden Knights, scoring 18 goals and 23 assists. However, scoring goals wasn't what Reaves was known for. Instead, it was hitting and fighting... lots of hitting and fighting. The newest Shark had 837 career hits during his Las Vegas tenure, making him one of the hardest-hitting players ever.
Ladies and gentlemen, it isn't hockey season without the bellhop at the local Marriott chirping about the Golden Knights. People like this have waited for years for Vegas to eventually fall to their dooms. Heck, you can even say they've gotten a calender and turned into Gollum. What better way to end those thoughts than to have a "business-as-usual" game?
Time to check in, Vegas.
