Normally, Bruce Cassidy's teams tend to get off to fast starts. The Vegas Golden Knights started 13-2-0 in 2023, winning the Stanley Cup in the process. The season after, they went off on an 11-0-1 start. But now? 7-4-4 is the current record after they lost to the Florida Panthers on Monday, 3-2.
Brad Marchand, Jesper Boqvist, and Sam Reinhart all scored for the Panthers. Once again, it took a late third-period push to make things interesting for the Golden Knights, thanks to goals by Tomas Hertl and Ivan Barbashev. However, it wasn't enough as the Golden Knights fell to 1-3-1 on the current homestand.
Yeah, I certainly know how that feels. It's been a rough season so far.
Has the Stanley Cup expectations gotten to the Golden Knights's heads? Are they taking it too easy to start the season and need a desperate kick in the pants? Who knows. But one thing's certain. Vegas desperately needs something to change and quickly.
Otherwise, it'll be a long season of underachieving players and an aging roster not performing up to par. Cassidy knows this and the team knows this. Maybe it takes the Captain, Mark Stone, returning to change things. Perhaps the team needs to get healthy overall.
Whatever the case, this *CLAP* isn't *CLAP* working *CLAP* out *CLAP*. This is a similar feeling to 2021-22, where Vegas missed the Stanley Cup playoffs for the only time in their franchise history. What's going on that has fans feeling like that'll happen again?
Fans let the Vegas Golden Knights know about their power play failures
You can probably say that the Florida Panthers had a solid penalty kill throughout the night. You can say their exits were clean and made life hard for the Golden Knights. However, the home crowd let Vegas know that they didn't appreciate the lack of results, specifically on the 5-on-3.

Could it be that the Golden Knights aren't shooting the puck as they should? Might it be that they miss Mark Stone up top? Whatever the case, a wasted 5-on-3 resulted in Florida grabbing all the momentum.
That came from Brad Marchand dekeing Kaedan Korczak out of his skates and firing a difficult backhander past Carl Lindbom for a 2-0 lead. When you pass too much instead of shooting the puck, fans don't forget.
Monday's game ended up identical to the previous Golden Knights contest against the Florida Panthers, only with Vegas firing the puck more
Sergei Bobrovsky faced a higher volume of shots on Monday. He faced 20 shots during the second period, more than the 17 shots he faced in the previous contest. Still, it didn't matter because he made the necessary stops to prevent Vegas from breaking out.
It led to another key victory for a depleted Panthers team, helping them get back into the groove of things. That's what the Golden Knights wish they could do, especially with another underwhelming home loss in tow. If this is what's to come, Golden Knights fans should be worried.
