Golden Knights fans should be thankful Jerry Jones isn't running their team

Vegas Golden Knights fans are thankful that Bill Foley and Kelly McCrimmon are in charge. The latest NFL trade shows why.

Today, Jerry Jones (aka the anti-Kelly McCrimmon) made a trade. He sent frustrated defensive star Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, per Adam Schefter.

Right after being traded, the Packers signed Parsons to a four-year, $188 million deal with $120 million guaranteed upon signing. Already, the city of Dallas has seen two of its biggest stars get traded in shocking deals, leaving a void as big as the state of Texas.

Yep, that's how everyone is seeing the poor state right now. Incompetent general managers running things in one of the fastest-growing states in America. Stars fans better hope that Jason Robertson doesn't get dealt next (hey, Jim Nill. Send him our way, please?).

But let's bring it back to the other state with no state income tax: Nevada. You see, McCrimmon himself was faced with a looming salary cap crunch. He was faced with the difficult decision of finding the right superstars to trade.

How? Well, it goes beyond merely being a competent general manager. You see, you can't say the same for Jerry Jones, who's busy talking a big game while failing to make the NFC Championship. Let's compare the two and go back to when it was June this year.

How McCrimmon handled the Tomas Hertl and William Karlsson situations perfectly

During the summer, Tomas Hertl and William Karlsson were two players listed as being potential trade pieces. Rumors of both stars going to teams like Carolina or Toronto floated through the air like a lingering fart.

However, McCrimmon wasn't buying any of that talk. He reassured both stars that they'd stick around for the long haul and would be a part of the team's on-ice success.

Guess what? They still got Mitch Marner in the process. Talk about genius-level work.

You can't say the same about the Dallas Cowboys owner, who props himself up in front of the media for attention. In turn, he makes head-scratching moves that set the Cowboys back a decade, leaving the franchise as the butt of all jokes.

Why Vegas Golden Knights fans should be thankful that Kelly McCrimmon (or Bill Foley) isn't Jerry Jones

First, Bill Foley believes in delegating power to others for front office control. He did this with George McPhee and later with Kelly McCrimmon, showing that he can't call all the shots. Compare that to Jones, who wants to control the Dallas Cowboys at every turn.

Also, both McCrimmon and Foley believe in staying out of the spotlight. Letting on-ice success dictate the pace of the Golden Knights has led to the team being in the Stanley Cup playoffs every season except for 2021-22. On top of that, it's led to four semifinal appearances, two Stanley Cup Finals, and a Stanley Cup.

As for Dallas? Well, they haven't made the NFC Championship since 1996. That means that during this dry spell, the Golden Knights were created, made the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season, and made it again in 2023. Ain't life funny?

It's enough to make you say, "How about dem Vegas Golden Knights?"
