The Vegas Golden Knights are always connected to the biggest names in the business. It doesn't matter if it's the Conn Smythe favorite, Mitch Marner, Jack Eichel, or Rasmus Andersson. All these players have been heavily involved in rumors with the team, eventually joining Vegas.
That's no different with Dylan Larkin, who's requested a trade out of Detroit. The Detroit Red Wings star even sent in some preferred destinations. Larkin prefers to be traded to one of three teams: the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers, and... the Vegas Golden Knights.
Helene reports that Dylan Larkin gave #LGRW three teams where he'd accept a trade and believes those teams are: #FlaPanthers, #mnwild and #VGK. https://t.co/RGkuQuBXAi

There it is. Soon, the other fanbases not in Texas, Florida, Tennessee, or Nevada will cry foul. They will get all hot and bothered like they're on Reddit and create a non-existent controversy to get Gary Bettman to react. You might want to ask Bill Daly how that worked out with the Bruce Cassidy fiasco, outraged children.
Anyways, the Golden Knights will need some salary cap gymnastics to occur here. They only have $4,625,000 in cap space to work with this offseason, along with looming extensions for Pavel Dorofeyev and Rasmus Andersson. Of course, there's the season-ending LTIR that they could use in case of emergency. However, even that will be tough with the two extensions alone.
Still, many hockey fans are looking at Vegas as the preferred destination because of one man: Kelly McCrimmon. He's been the brains behind the many deals going down in Golden Knights history, whether that's with Andersson or Tomas Hertl. He's always had a cavalier attitude about the salary cap, opting to make the numbers work later.
However, he will have to contend with the Minnesota Wild ($12,752,501) and the Florida Panthers ($15,277,500), both of which have more cap space and high-end draft picks. That could make matters much more complicated for the Golden Knights if they wanted to pursue him, given that they don't have such things. Still, it's not too far-fetched to envision Jack Eichel's best buddy coming to Vegas because of the team's maverick attitude towards its operations.
