Vegas Golden Knights fans were treated to some good news on their Monday morning, taking their minds off returning to work. No, it didn't involve the San Jose Sharks being moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia (although that would be hilarious). The news came in the form of an update from Bruce Cassidy. The update centered around Mark Stone and his condition.

If you're wondering what's being referred to here, it's the nudge that Kris Letang delivered to the Golden Knights Captain on Sunday. The winger left Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and didn't return, leaving fans with fear and uncertainty. In turn, his status for Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres is up in the air.

This season has seen Stone take his game to new levels. The Canadian Olympian is averaging 1.40 points per game, putting him ahead of prominent names like David Pastrnak, Jack Eichel, and William Nylander. He has 21 goals and 39 assists this season, despite missing time earlier in the year with an upper-body injury. He's on pace to score 82 points (29 goals and 53 assists) without playing a full 82 games this season.

Vegas Golden Knights fans will be delighted to hear that Mark Stone's injury isn't as severe as initially thought

Imagine if Mark Stone went down and his injury was much worse. All the LTIR jokes would come flooding in, causing a major headache among Golden Knights fans. But that wouldn't have been the most dire consequence that Vegas would face without their Captain.

The Jack Eichel-Mark Stone-Ivan Barbashev line has been one of the most efficient Golden Knights lines this season. They've produced the highest goals percentage this season (minimum 200 minutes, courtesy of MoneyPuck) at 64.5% and have scored the most goals (20, minimum of 200 minutes). Not having your entire unit around would leave Bruce Cassidy to turn to the ol' line blender.

Fans know that a line with just Eichel and Barbashev doesn't hit the same. They might be faster without Stone, yet the Golden Knights Captain provides a cerebral edge and positioning advantage most players don't have. He's great at reading defenses and seeing all 200 feet of the ice, making him one of the best offensive minds in the league.

With that, breathe in and breathe out, Golden Knights fans. You're spared from hearing the endless array of LTIR jokes and salary cap circumvention quips (although the NHL changed the playoff salary cap rules this season). That should make everyone's Monday significantly better.
