Sometimes, you need a breakout game to get back on the winning track. Tuesday was a perfect example as the Vegas Golden Knights pulled away from the Carolina Hurricanes, 6-3. Birthday boy Jack Eichel had two goals and an assist, while a previous birthday boy, Pavel Dorofeyev, also added two goals.

After Logan Stankoven scored to give the Hurricanes an early third-period lead, the Golden Knights responded with four unanswered goals. Four! People were talking about how flat the offensive front was during the trip. Yet, the third period was when the Golden Knights broke through.

Not only does the Golden Knights' offense break through, but they add a crucial two points at the end of a long trip. After getting the dud and playing like poindexters against the Florida Panthers, Vegas squandered a solid game by Carl Lindbom. Tuesday's breakthrough was more than enough to quiet those concerns, putting Vegas back atop the NHL hierarchy.

Speaking of which, the stars were out in full force on Tuesday. We're talking about Tomas Hertl scoring a goal and an assist. We're also talking about two big names who helped Vegas end its trip on a happy note. One turned it around while the other's on a complete heater, scoring goals in droves.

Jack Eichel turns it around for the Vegas Golden Knights late in the game

Let's be honest. This road trip hasn't been the best for Jack Eichel. Despite having a goal and an assist, the franchise face had a two-period stint to forget. First, Jordan Martinook frustrated him all game, laying out hits and getting inside his head. That led to Carolina's second goal, tying the game.

However, he made up for it by achieving a first in what seems like forever. Eichel scored on a breakaway.

What looked like a sad birthday turned out to be a game-winner as the birthday boy got two goals and an assist. Such play would have people tossing your name into the Hart Memorial Trophy conversation. It shouldn't be surprising for Eichel since he's atop the points leaderboard in the league.

On that note, I think it's time for a little dialogue...

Pavel Dorofeyev continues to up the ante for the Vegas Golden Knights

Look, we all know how great Pavel Dorofeyev is as a hockey player. The Golden Knights winger had seven goals entering Tuesday's game, making him one of the best shooters today. He added two more goals on the night, re-igniting Vegas's offense. That included a beautiful one-timer to put the Golden Knights up, 2-1.

Such a goal proves Dorofeyev continues to evolve within the Golden Knights power play. When opponents sniffed him out coming on the weak side, he adapts by firing off a blistering one-timer.

Games like this also drive up the price tag for the Russian winger. He's set to become a restricted free agent after this season and is arbitration-eligible. While Kelly McCrimmon is no stranger to salary cap gymnastics, this could be tougher to manage if Dorofeyev continues to thrive.
