It's funny that I just posted an article concerning Adin Hill being an obvious trade candidate. The Vegas Golden Knights' netminder has had a terrible 2025-26 season, posting a GAA of 3.04 and a save percentage of .871. That led to Carter Hart taking the reins, leading the Golden Knights to the Western Conference Final.
Sure, Bruce Cassidy was no longer around to cling to his special pet project. However, it appears that the Golden Knights are being urged to let go of the washed-up goaltender. At least, that's what Frank Seravalli said on the Big Show on Friday.
"They gotta get rid of Adin Hill, Hill isn't gonna be able to stay."Frank Seravalli on the Big Show
Believe it or not, it makes perfect sense. Hart has been extremely effective during the postseason, posting a GAA of 2.37 and a save percentage of .917. Mix in an old friend in John Tortorella and you have a netminder who has left Hill out in the cold.
But it goes beyond that. It involves Hill's own history and what's in store for the Golden Knights' future. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to see Kelly McCrimmon move off the former Stanley Cup hero this summer. Here's why that will be the case.
Moving off of Adin Hill doesn't just stem from his poor performance
Look at the Golden Knights' minor league system for a second. You'll see plenty of attractive names that could take the reins soon. The obvious name that stands out is none other than Swedish prospect Carl Lindbom.
He had a brief NHL stint that was more of him getting his feet wet than anything, playing eight games with the Golden Knights. While his NHL stats were less than inspiring (GAA of 3.00 and a save percentage of .873), his Henderson Silver Knights stats were far more impressive. We're talking about a GAA of 2.16 and a save percentage of .926, adding three shutouts in the process.
Of course, Lindbom isn't the only name that comes to mind here. Cameron Whitehead's another name to watch, especially after a good Tahoe Knight Monsters campaign. Here, he posted a GAA of 3.01 and a save percentage of .921, adding two shutouts in 24 games. These two goaltenders alone should give enough incentive to move Hill during the offseason.
That's not even mentioning other names like Pavel Moisevich who are waiting in the wings. Having a 6'5" stalwart in net makes the prospect room crowded on the goaltending side, leaving Hill obsolete for the future.
The incentive to move Hill falls on Hill himself
Statistically, Hill has been absolutely abysmal this season. Aside from the aforementioned stats, the former Stanley Cup hero had a Goals Saved Above Expected of -14.2. But that dropoff doesn't just come from losing your talent as the Monstars abducted it.
It also comes from a long line of injuries, mainly in the lower-body section. Fans will remember the 2023-24 season, where he got hurt (undisclosed) against the Ottawa Senators on December 17, 2023. That shelved him for an entire month, with the previous injury being... lower-body.
If you're paying a goalie $6.25 million to rehabilitate his injuries, that isn't getting the job done. His performance will crater and leave him out of a spot. Could a team take a flyer on him, even with these developments? Who knows. But he's not likely to stick around with the Golden Knights in the future.
