Call Trevor Connelly "Captain America"
Finally, there's Trevor Connelly, the controversial first-round pick of the 2024 NHL Draft. Some fans have revolted against the native of Tustin, California, based on his past anti-semitic remarks on Snapchat. However, he's done a good job of turning the page in the 2025 World Juniors. How, you ask?
Well, he has one goal and two assists during the tournament. The goal came in the opening match against Germany, where the Americans delivered some good old-fashioned patriotism to Deutschland in the form of a 10-4 butt-kickin' (over and out). On top of that, he added an assist during the game, making him the unofficial "Captain America".
Expectations are high for the Providence College forward as a prospect. When you're trying to ditch your past and move on with your life, those expectations are heightened. However, Connelly's taking the necessary first step to ensure he's leaving his past behind. It could leave Americans singing "Free Bird" and sticking it to the "51st state," Canada. Ain't that America?
