Everything was going well at Tuesday's morning skate for the Vegas Golden Knights. They were preparing for a challenging team in the Ottawa Senators, who are the visitors in Tuesday's contest. Everything should be hunky-dory, right?
Well, not everything. It seems that No. 1 goaltender Carter Hart went down with an apparent injury during morning skate. Adin Hill will start in net for the Golden Knights against the Senators and Daren Millard might actually see the ice if Hill also goes down.

Currently, Hart has a day-to-day designation which could change after further evaluations. But the news is terrifying when you consider the ramifications of the current goaltender situation.
Hart has a GAA of 2.76 and a save percentage of .889 this season. He hasn't been the best goaltender in the league on certain nights. However, he's been reliable enough to fetch the Golden Knights four wins this season (4-3-1). One can point to past performances against the Los Angeles Kings and the Seattle Kraken as shining examples of being reliable.
In turn, many fans will collectively groan at seeing Adin Hill start in net. The issues are long-winding, ranging from his decorated lower-body injuries to simply allowing too many soft goals. The Golden Knights' faithful should expect to see plenty of the 'beloved' goaltender after Hart's recent injury.
How can the Vegas Golden Knights navigate life after Carter Hart's injury at Tuesday's morning skate?
First, this is the most unfortunate situation that the Golden Knights could encounter. After missing out on Connor Hellebuyck, Vegas suddenly doesn't have their No. 1 goaltender from their morning skate on Tuesday. And no, you can't pin the blame on general manager Kelly McCrimmon too much, since one of Hill's no-trade destinations was Winnipeg.
That could also mean that Carl Lindbom gets some time at the NHL level. The Henderson Silver Knights netminder spent some time in Vegas last season, playing eight games with the NHL team. Here, he posted a GAA of 3.00 and a save percentage of .873. Granted, those numbers were from his rookie campaign, so he deserves some leeway.
Still, Lindbom should get some development time at the NHL level to understand the big league's pace of the game. The Golden Knights believe in the Swedish goaltender enough to give him ice time. His lateral movements and crease coverage make him the ideal candidate for managing the net.
As for losing Hart? Well, this hurts in many ways. The former Flyers goaltender has been Vegas's most reliable netminder since last season, carrying the team to the Stanley Cup Final. Losing Hart while relying on the not-so-fan-favorite Hill will be a trying time for many Golden Knights fans. That could mean more soft goals let in than usual.
Here's hoping that Hart's injury isn't too serious. The netminder serves a far more integral purpose to the Golden Knights than people realize. It would be devastating to see your season collapse because your No. 1 goaltender was injured at the team's morning skate.
