It's funny because we don't talk about the Knight Monsters on here, despite the team's success. They've built on the other Nevada hockey team's achievements and become one of the hottest teams in the East Coast Hockey League. It must be the Golden Knights' touch because the team thrives in the modern hockey landscape.
Yet, they deserve more consideration from the Nevada hockey community. It isn't just because of the on-ice performance, though. It's also because they've secretly dispelled the notion that the Golden Knights don't have any reliable prospects to lean on.
Names like Cameron Whitehead come to mind, as they've developed and elevated themselves to the next level. That's promising for a Golden Knights team that needs a youth injection for the road ahead. So, let's shine the spotlight on the lower rungs and see what Tahoe can do for the upcoming season.
What are the expectations for the Tahoe Knight Monsters in 2026-27?
Let's look at the Silver Knights as a perfect example of minor league success (at least from last season). Goaltending was the name of the game for Henderson, with Carl Lindbom carrying the load. The Swedish goaltender posted a GAA of 2.16 and a save percentage of .926 last season, adding three shutouts along the way.
Goaltending is always a good starting point for any team since it puts your opponent in a war of attrition. You can bank on getting the next goal to win, which is the case for the Knight Monsters.
