88 goals and 201 assists can land you anything these days. That includes an advisor role and a job as a Vegas Golden Knights broadcaster. The latter is what Alec Martinez got after retiring from the NHL.

But the goals and assists aren't the selling point here. Instead, it's the blocked shots. Boy, are there a ton of them in his 16-year career. We're talking about 1,884 blocked shots, with 677 coming with the Golden Knights in five seasons.

Add three Stanley Cups (one with Vegas) and you're bound to hit the broadcast booth. That's especially true on The Spot Vegas 34, where Golden Knights fans can see their favorite team and all its glory take on the world. Mind you, this is a defenseman who scored the Cup-clinching goal with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.

Still, it's a well-earned position for Martinez, who's spent his hockey career being a likable figure. The native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has been an easygoing figure with his passion for the Detroit Lions, while staying out of trouble. That alone should fetch him a nice broadcasting deal with Vegas, reuniting him with the team that fulfilled a promise with him around.

So, here's to Martinez on an excellent hockey career, especially when playing with the Golden Knights. He's turned into one of the best lane-clogging defensemen in the NHL, doing whatever it took to make life a living nightmare for opposing attackers. Enjoy your broadcasting career and best of luck to you (and the Lions).
