Other solid Dallas recommendations
Sixth Floor Museum
In the heart of Dallas, you can see the area where JFK was unalived in the street. There's a museum called the Sixth Floor Museum, where you can see artifacts and news reels of which the news broke. I would check the website to see what you can bring into the museum because you do have to go through metal detectors before taking the elevator up to the sixth floor, where Lee Harvey Oswald took the shot. Fun activity for anyone who's a fan of American history.
Maple and Motor
If you're a fan of Triple D on the Food Network, you have to stop at Maple and Motor in the heart of Dallas. Their amazing stovetop burgers are customized to how you want them and cooked right in front of you. If Guy Fieri was drooling after one bite of the burger he had on the show, you will be doing the same. There's one more Triple D joint to try in Downtown Dallas if you're a fan of Mexican food.
Pepe and Mito's
Pepe and Mitos is another restaurant featured on the show that you might be interested in. It's a Tex-Mex fusion place that will have your taste buds singing. I haven't been there, but people are always coming back for more. I know some of you are wondering if there are any good BBQ places to eat at. Don't worry, we will get to those two stops right after we talk about one more Dallas site to visit.
Dallas World Aquarium
The Dallas World Aquarium is a fun place to take the kids, where they can see a variety of sea and land wildlife. You can go check on how Jake Oettinger's "brothers and sisters" are doing. Sorry, had to add an Otter joke into the mix. But yes, it's a cool place to go indoors and get out of the Texas heat if you need some air conditioning. Now, let's get to the two BBQ joints that you must visit down here.
Hurtado's BBQ
Now, if you're a baseball fan and have been to Globe Life Field, the name might sound a bit familiar. That's because before they became the official BBQ joint of the Texas Rangers, they had a couple of Arlington spots where you could get their famous BBQ outside of the ballpark to try. There is a line stretching for miles when the ballpark opens its doors for this place. If the line wraps around the stadium, you know it has to be good.
Hutchins BBQ
Now, this is probably the best spot in the entire state of Texas if you are a BBQ enthusiast. I live near here in McKinney and the line for this place extends into the street for the drive-thru. From pulled pork to smoked ends, they have it available every day. If you are only in town for a day, consider going here for lunch before a Stars and Golden Knights hockey game. You probably won't be eating much at the game after you finish lunch at Hutchins.
