3.) The Golden Knights were bound to lose at least one game on this road trip
Saturday's game was going to be a tough contest regardless of the circumstances. The Oilers were 8-2-0 in their last ten games heading into the matchup and they have arguably the best player in the world, Connor McDavid.
Couple that with games against two of the best teams in the NHL (Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild) and it's the toughest gauntlet the Golden Knights will face. Therefore, the Golden Knights losing on Saturday isn't as surprising as one would think.
It's not saying they suck, though. It's saying the level of competition has risen exponentially. Facing off against superstars like McDavid, Connor Hellebuyck, and Kirill Kaprizov will always be a challenging set of circumstances.
Thus, this shouldn't be a game for fans to sweat too much. Sure, you always want to beat the Oilers, especially at Rogers Place. However, it was one of those games where there wasn't a winning outcome regardless of how hard the Golden Knights tried. That's especially true when Stuart Skinner looks unstoppable (sans a power play gaffe) and the Oilers have a balanced scoring attack.
