2.) The Vegas Golden Knights get at least a point if they tame the second period
A complete second-period lapse did the Golden Knights in on Saturday. They couldn't contain Leon Draisaitl, Connor Brown, and others from unleashing an offensive fury in the middle of the game. In fact, those four goals decided the game in favor of the Edmonton Oilers. Take this goal from Brown as a perfect example.
The forward pounces on a hard rebound from Adin Hill to bury a goal. It turned the game into a laugher for the home team, getting them a crucial two points.
But what if Hill controls that rebound? What if Shea Theodore and the Golden Knights clear the puck before Zach Hyman scored the second goal for the Oilers? Little mistakes like that build up, making a massive difference between getting points and not getting anything.
That's part of why the Golden Knights were blown out on Saturday afternoon. Sure, they made it interesting by cutting the lead to two early in the third period. However, they've wouldn't be in that position if they cut down on the mental errors.
