What if the Golden Knights finally have a devastating special teams group?
Fans have been delighted to see the Golden Knights power play turn things around. Going into Friday's game, they had the second-best unit in the NHL (30.4%). With superstars like Jack Eichel (11 power play assists) and Tomas Hertl (four goals, six assists on the unit), it's easy to see why the unit's become exciting.
But their game against the Jets saw the other side thrive. The only other unit better than the Golden Knights on the man advantage were those same Jets. Boy, did Vegas put a stop to them.
Winnipeg didn't convert on all three of their power play opportunities, including a late rush that sealed the deal. With a wave of exits from William Karlsson and company keeping the Golden Knights upright, it took an all-out effort to get two cruical points.
Imagine if Vegas can do this against the league's best team, both in points and the power play. If this unit turns around, they can have one of the deadliest special teams groups around. That could lead to a deep playoff run again, especially against a weaker Pacific Division.
