3 reasons why acquiring Elias Pettersson helps the Vegas Golden Knights

Getting Elias Petterson from the Vancouver Canucks to the Vegas Golden Knights would be impossible under the current circumstances. But what if it happened?

Get Pettersson on a Stanley Cup contender!

Let's be honest. If you were Pettersson, would you rather go to the Buffalo Sabres, who are heading into another season of missing the Stanley Cup playoffs? Or would you want to be on a Stanley Cup contender like the Vegas Golden Knights? If you said Buffalo, well...

The Sabres have bigger problems than simply a lack of scoring. They're 29th in team goals allowed per game (3.43) and are tied for 27th in team save percentage (.893). It's safe to say you won't see them making the Stanley Cup playoffs for another five years minimum, especially in a tough Atlantic Division.

So why not go to a weaker division and head westward? The Pacific Division only has the Golden Knights and Oilers as competition. The Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames aren't getting to the Western Conference Final. The Seattle Kraken, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks are still rebuilding. And the Canucks? There's a reason why they're in this position in the first place. Between Buffalo and Vegas, one team has a bright future. Hint: They play in a city where it rarely snows.
